Representative Clel Baudler is currently serving his eighth term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 20th District, which includes Greenfield, Guthrie Center, and Perry.

Rep. Baudler is the Chairman of the Public Safety committee, and also serves on the Agriculture, Environmental Protection, Government Oversight, and Natural Resources committees.

Clel Baudler was first elected in 1998. Prior to becoming elected to the House, Clel was an Iowa State Trooper for 32 years. Since retirement, Clel keeps busy farming. Clel was born on April 4, 1939, in Fontanelle, Iowa. His father, Albert, was a farmer and cattle buyer, and his mother, Nora, was a homemaker.

He grew up and went to school in Fontanelle where he graduated from Fontanelle High School in 1957.

In 1961, Clel married his wife, Mary Carole, and together, they have 4 grown children and are blessed with 9 grandchildren.

Even though Clel is retired from the Iowa State Patrol, he remains active in several organizations. Clel is a member of the State Trooper Association, sits on the Board of Directors for the National Rifle Association (NRA), and is a member of the Iowa Police Combat League, the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, the Iowa State Patrol Revolver Team, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited and the Wild Turkey Federation.
